WIC Breastfeeding Peer Helper
JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
HHWP CAC is seeking a WIC Breastfeeding Peer Helper to be a part of our Women’s Infants and Children’s (WIC) program.
This position is part-time, working 25 hrs/week. The rate of pay for this position is $15.38-$20.00/hour depending on education and experience. This position will be based at our Findlay WIC Location, but will require some travel to our Hardin and Putnam WIC locations on a regular basis.
Job Responsibilities
The WIC Breastfeeding Peer Helper is responsible for assisting WIC participants in the implementation and continuation of breastfeeding; ongoing contact with the pregnant or breastfeeding participants, both face to face and by telephone; providing information within your scope of practice; assist with classes, support groups, breast pump insurance and refer participants to the Breastfeeding Coordinator or WIC Health professional as necessary.
Minimum Requirements and Application Process
- Must be a current or past WIC participant.
- Minimum Education: Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum Experience: Must have breastfed at least one baby for a minimum of six (6) months
- Demonstrated working knowledge of computer systems/software.
- Must complete a minimum of 20 hours State approved training and obtain 6 hours continuing education credits per year in the field of lactation; initial Back to Basics Breastfeeding Management training must be completed within one year of hire
- Must be sensitive to the needs of low-income individuals and able to work with individuals of all cultural backgrounds and ages.
- Must have valid Ohio driver’s license, reliable transportation, and maintain state minimum amount of automobile liability insurance.
- Background screening required
