Welcome to the HHWP Community Action Commission’s Website!
We are committed to helping low and moderate income residents of our service area improve their living conditions by creating needed resources, increasing skills, and stimulating the motivation to help people help themselves. We offer a variety of services and projects designed to accomplish these purposes. Some of these services are located in particular counties or areas, and have varying eligibility requirements, so please click on the Program buttons that are of interest to you to learn more. We are always welcome to new ideas, and working with other area agencies, local governments, and private companies in collaborative efforts. The Contact button above will provide general CAC management contact information, and each Program button also has more specific contacts for each program. Our central administrative office is located at 122 Jefferson Street, P.O. Box 179, Findlay, OH 45839, and our telephone number is 419-423-3755 or 800-423-4304. BUDGET ALERT!! The continuation of the Community Services Block Grant is currently being debated in Washington. Those funds provide the "core" funding of Community Action agencies, like ours, all over the country. Without adequate CSBG funds, many CAA's may be forced to close their doors, and not be able to provide some of the social service programs funded through other streams. Multi-county CAA's are the most cost-effective way to deliver quality services over a regional area, rather than splitting up some services among many other nonprofits. CHECK IT OUT!!
The Ohio Association of Community Action Agencies (OACAA) has published a newspaper insert to highlight the impact that Community Action agencies have in Ohio. Click here to view that insert and learn about the important services agencies like ours provide to area residents.
We received a large reduction in our Home Weatherization Assistance Program (HWAP) funding effective April 1. We went from over 6 crews to 1 1/2, so a lot fewer homes will be insulated and a lot fewer defective furnaces will be replaced. Washington is now considering eliminating this program entirely in 2013, despite an average energy consumption savings achieved of over 25% per house. Although we have enough applicants on our waiting list for over a year, we do have a priority system which could allow a new applicant to be served this year, so we are continuing to accept applications at this time.
We conducted a Community Needs Assessment during 2011, which included surveys of low-income residents, other social service agencies, and research on trends in the economic/political environment.. The Final Report is now available by contacting Dave Salucci at "dsalucci@hhwpcac.com".
